Gordy and Hayes defeated Robert Fuller and Stan Frazier (Hillbilly Elmer) in a tournament final to win the new NWA National Tag Team titles which replaced the Georgia belts.
The WWE has announced that it will induct the Fabulous Freebirds into the WWE Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania weekend 2016 in Dallas TX. Very fitting since the Freebirds gained world wide fame in Texas battling the Von Erichs in match after bloody match.
Congratulations to Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin (who was technically a Freebird) the only living members. Sadly we have lost Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts but they will be vividly remembered that night.
Big Josh (Matt Borne), Dustin Rhodes and Tom Zenk win the WCW World Six Man Tag Team Titles from the Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin and Badstreet aka Brad Armstrong) in St. Joseph MO. That team would hold the belts until October 8th 1991 when they lost to The York Foundation (Tommy Rich, Ricky Morton and Terry Taylor) managed by Alexandra York (Terri Runnels) in Montgomery, AL.

Along with Michael "P.S." Hayes and Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy they formed one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history. Their feud with Von Erichs in Texas in the 1980s hey days of World Class Championship Wrestling is thing of legend.
Roberts retired from the ring in 1990 with the closing of WCCW but he lives on in the memories of fans who saw him and the other Freebirds spread havoc through the 80s.
