George "The Animal" Steele R.I.P.

George "The Animal" Steele aka Jim Myers has passed away at the age of 79. He was a huge star in the 1980s WWF as his character and the product become more kid friendly. In the 1970s and early 80s he challenged WWF champions Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales and Bob Backlund on several occasions. Unknown to most fans he was in real life a very successful high school football coach and loved by one and all. In 2013 he published his life story (which I read) and its fascinating to read about his tremendous college football career and his decision to wrestle in his off season as a coach. He talked extensively about the change in his character in the late 1980s.
He will be missed
