Today is the 75th birthday of the Living Legend Bruno Sammartino. He is probably my favorite wrestler of all time right after Dick the Bruiser. I can remember as a little boy reading the wrestling magazines my dad bought for me and seeing the articles on Bruno and hoping one day to see him wrestle on tv.
Well in the mid 70s during one of his hiatus' from the WWF he came to Indianapolis to team with Dick the Bruiser against the Valiant Brothers and Ernie Ladd and his partner of the week.
I was thrilled to see the Legend for the first time and he became one of very favorites with his rough and tumble old school style.
Here is one of the legendary confrontations in Indianapolis with Bruno and Bruiser facing Ernie Ladd and Baron Von Raschke. This was such a huge event they moved it to the Convention Center to hold the crowd. You can tell how on fire this fued was and the crowd was just bonkers for this blowout tag team match.
