Memories

this little promo brings back the greatest memories of my childhood. Watching All Star championship wrestling on Ch 4 and 6. Of course the name of this blog was almost "The air conditioned expo center" and this promo shows why. Here are 3 men who should be in any wrestling Hall of Fame, Wilbur Snyder, Pepper Gomez and Sam Menacher.
And for my uncle Phil, thinking of you when I saw this.

Again!

Sometimes you wonder why these guys gave the Japanese fans all these great matches. Was it purely money? or lack of it in the US for these matchups?
Well here is Andre the Giant vs Stan Hansen...WOW is all I can say, Andre wrestles and puts on a great show vs Hansen.

Talk about a dream team of the 1980s!

here is a video from Japan probably around 1985 with a tag team of NWA World Champion Ric Flair and AWA World Champion Rick Martel! Talk about being the main event of any supercard, this would have been it. I would love to hear the story about how this came about and it shows that the major feds outside of the then WWF were very good to work together. Of course the coverage of this was squelched to keep up the seperation that eventually killed both organizations.

Of course this gave Martel a chance to play heel for a short time, giving us a glimpse of his future. WOW these are fun to watch

Japan

it still amazes me the matches that the japanese fans get to see and we on the US side can only dream of such cards. This is a prime example, King Kong Brody and Superfly Snuka vs Stan Hansen and Terry Gordy! this would blow the roof off any US arena. Of course the US promoters are too stingy and would not let either Hansen or Brody do the match their way. It shows the respect they have for the Japanese promoters (who ponied up the money for these matches) and for the fans to even think that they would like to see it. US wrestling is too story driven for a match like this but now at least we have YOUTUBE to bring these home. Here are both parts of the match

there are more great matches like this on youtube and I will be bringing them to you as fast as I can.

He had a goldmine and we got the shaft!

When Vince bought WCW he had Goldberg and could have made another mint with him because along Austin and The Rock would have torn down every building in the country and maybe the world.
Here is Goldberg's debut in the WWE and the crowd was so over for Goldberg and The Rock.
We got nothing out of it because Vince couldnt stand the thought of the WCW's top guys being his top guy unless it was Hogan or Nash. WCW ruined it by having Nash beat Goldberg for the title and Nash was and still is a almost a cripple with bad knees and its just pathetic to see him try and move around the ring.

Badstreet USA

You new I would get around to this video. It just screams 1980s but it was fun and cool at the time it came out. I get so many memories flooding back when I see this. All the great matches at that time between the 'Birds and the Von Erichs, they were bloody and a tons of fun.

WWE Night of Champions

here is are the results and comment about the PPV from the Baltimore Sun. I did not watch it but from what I have read in other articles today it was not a great night for the fans or the WWE tcchincal crew. There were glitches and issues all night and the matches did not live up to any hype and tired old characters were used instead of elevating any new talent and fueds were dropped and never mentioned.

Andre the Giant vs Hulk Hogan....1983

from Japan in 1983 Hulk Hogan (love by the japanese at this time) was facing the heel Andre the Giant. The US crowds did not see the Andre until it was too late in his career to really get a good match between these 2 legends. You actually see Hogan use wrestling holds and moves and some mat wrestling that Andre never did in the US. This is the respect they had for the japanese crowds to not give them the usual big lumbering stare down matches seen here.

This match at Wrestlemania 3 may have had the world talking instead of the MachoMan/Steamboat matchup. Enjoy!

CANOE -- SLAM! Sports - Wrestling - Austin Idol plans run for Tampa Mayor

Ok Here is a strange story out of Florida. Jerry Lawler has announced he is running for mayor of Memphis next year and now this...what's next Tommy Rich the mayor of Hendersonville TN? Of course Tommy would only be mayor for a week. (I hope someone gets that reference)

Underated and Underappriecated

Here again from 1987 are the Road Warriors going after the NWA World tag team belts that were held by Ravishing Rick Rude and The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez. Ragin & Ravishing were a great team at a time when there were some great tag teams all over the world of wrestling. Looking back this the last golden age of tag teams and R&R was a tremendous heel duo that really had the crowds hating them everywhere. Rude would go onto to greater fame in the WWF but you could see he could really work the crowd and in the ring he was world class. You also had the world famous Road Warriors and the fans were rabid for them and for them to just kick the ass of every team they faced. This was also a time when teams used rock songs as their entrance music, I will take a look at that soon.
Also the ring announcer seemed to be just a slub hired for his voice because he seemed clueless as to who he was introducing.

Eight men who could tear the joint down everynight

This is from 1987 and the NWA was flying high with great crowds and great wrestling and wrestlers. This I think is from the syndicated show of all things, they normally didnt give you these type of matches unless it was a PPV or a TBS special.
The Road Warriors/Nikita Koloff/Dusty Rhodes vs the Original Four Horseman. It did not get any better than this.

The Name

If you are puzzled by the name of this blog, well it comes from Ted Turner. During the late 80s Ted would not allow the used of the term foreign on any of his networks, so the announcers on WCW Saturday Night and the WCW PPVs had to use the term "international object" instead of "foreign object" when a wrestler used anything to hit his opponent with like brass knuckles, chairs, roll of quarters, bats, etc.

Lets get started

I started this blog to post links to articles and show clips from all over the wrestling world.
One of my favorite places for wrestling news is Slam Wrestling. Check it out and see what's going on in the world of Pro wrestling.
I also will have stories on wrestlers outside of the ring and now they are moving in to UFC, like Brock Lesnar in UFC or Jake "the snake" Roberts wherever he turns up. I will have things about dvd that I have or that are coming out. Just want to have fun and share my love for wrestling from all over the world.

now lets kick it off with the greatest tag team ever...Dick The Bruiser and DA Crusher!

Welcome to the New Blog for wrestling fans

Welcome to my new blog that will cover pro wrestling/mma/UFC/amateur wrestling in and out of the ring and in real life. I hope to post video and articles and links to stuff that you will enjoy and comeback for everyday.
